An academic conversation on writing for publication:

The METU Academic Writing Center is proud to announce that there will be an international webinar titled "Writing for scholarly publication in current academia: Challenges and recommendations" by our invited speaker, Dr. Pejman Habibie from Western University, Canada on Friday, December 16 at 18.00-19.30 Ankara Time (GMT+3). (10.00-11.30 AM Eastern Standard Time (EST)).

Dr. Pejman Habibie is an Assistant Professor at Western University, Canada. He is also a founding co-editor of the Journal of English for Research Publication Purposes and a co-editor of the book series Routledge Studies in English for Research Publication Purposes. His research interests and scholarly publications focus on the geopolitics of knowledge construction and dissemination, writing for scholarly publication, and academic literacies. His work has been published in journals such as the Annual Review of Applied Linguistics and Journal of Second Language Writing.

In this talk, participants will discuss:

- The significance and implications of scholarly publication in current global knowledge economy

- The challenges facing scholars globally in publishing in English-medium academic journals

- The strategies and initiatives that can facilitate this academic endeavour, especially for novice scholars

The webinar will be interactive since the presenter is also very much interested in participants' experience and especially questions, for which there will be time in particular.
