The METU Academic Writing Center (AWC) is proud to announce another webinar titled "Using Artificial Intelligence Tools to Enhance Efficiency and Productivity in Academic Tasks" by our invited speakers, Lect. Dr. Sema Üster and Lect. Derya Ilgın Yaşar, on Tuesday, December 17 at 18.00-20.00 (Ankara Time).
Dr. Sema Üster has been working as an English language teacher and EFL instructor for 20 years. She has completed B.A., M.A. and PhD degrees at METU ELT Department. Currently, she is working as an instructor and teacher trainer, delivering the in-service training programs at METU Division of Basic English. Her research interests include teacher education, in-service training, and teacher cognition.
Derya Ilgın Yaşar is an instructor of English and a teacher trainer at the School of Foreign Languages, Middle East Technical University. She holds a BA in Foreign Language Education from METU and an MA in Teaching English as a Foreign Language from İhsan Doğramacı Bilkent University. Currently, she is pursuing her PhD in English Language Teaching at METU. Her research interests include in-service teacher education, professional development and teacher identity.
This session is designed to provide teachers, instructors and academics with strategies for effectively integrating a range of AI tools into their lessons, presentations and other academic tasks for a variety of purposes. Participants will receive both input and practical experience with these tools, focusing on effective prompt design and patterns. The session aims to cover AI functionalities, including giving and receiving feedback to written work, creating texts, generating images, designing academic materials, adapting texts and tasks, developing assessment tools, creating interactive slides, and using chatbots for one-to-one interaction and speaking practice.
