Melek AltunCoordinator & Tutor Melek Altun graduated from METU at the Department of FLE in 2011. She worked at Bilkent University School of English Language, where she completed CELTA, ICELT, and DELTA, between the years of 2011-2018. Then, she worked for a year at METU Development Foundation Schools. She holds an MA in ELT from Gazi University. She has been working as an instructor at METU Modern Languages Department since 2019. |

Defne Akıncı MidasTutor Defne Akıncı Midas has taught English at higher education level for more than 25 years. She holds a master’s degree in Computer Assisted Language Learning and TESOL from University of Manchester, UK. She is currently working on her PhD thesis in Computer Education and Instructional Technologies, METU. She acted as the coordinator of the Academic Writing Center in the 2000s, and now she is happy to be one of the tutors of the center. |
Başak AtasoyTutor Başak Atasoy grew up on a different peninsula. She's a true lover of the sea. She loves swimming, sailing, and speeding with the jetski. She loves what she does, and she's been doing it for a quarter of a century in METU. |

Stephen Bradley KuntzTutor Stephen joined the Department of Modern Languages in September, 2025, after serving as an educator at the University of Alberta, Canada for 32 years, in literature, English language development, and writing. For 16 years, he served as Associate Director of the Academic Success Centre overseeing the writing program, staff, and editing service and offering writing workshops, student consultations, and teaching on plagiarism awareness and academic-cultural transition. Having graded more than 10,000 student documents (and “looked at” 10,000 more), he still finds great satisfaction in teaching and aiding people in becoming better thinkers and communicators, primarily through focusing on writing. He has come to perceive that the concept of relationships governs many aspects of writing (and life), and he sees himself as a "Guide, Companion, and Midwife," listening to, advising, and coaching people on their writing projects. |

Delal Kasımoğlu DemirTutor Delal Kasımoğlu Demir holds a BA in English Language and Literature from Boğaziçi University and an MA in Curriculum and Instruction from Bilkent University. She currently works as an English for academic purposes instructor at METU. She enjoys spending time with people with curious minds and listening to their perspectives. As someone who also feels intimidated by the very idea of writing, she wants to give a hand to fellow members of the METU community to find their voice as academic writers and express their ideas. |
Dr. Hale KızılcıkTutor An ELT/ESP practitioner and researcher with extensive experience in teaching, materials development, and assessment—including guiding researchers in writing for academic publication. Actively involved in research projects initiated to inform curricular decisions. Interested in care pedagogy, sustainable syllabus design, and alternative assessment, with a strong focus on disseminating research through publications and presentations. |
